Last week, META introduced its newest product within the visual technology: the Ray-Ban Display smart glasses also accompanied by the Meta Neural Band bracelet. The announcement was made by Mark Zuckerberg during the annual Meta Connect 2025 conference, presenting during the announcement the device that was designed with the aim of uniting a classic style with artificial intelligence and also transforming the ways of interacting with this technology.

Meta introduces AI-powered Ray-Ban Display glasses for connected everyday life

A truly futuristic detail that’s a highlight of this launch is the discreet screen integrated into the right lens of the glasses. It’s a display that’s not constantly on, appearing only when requested, displaying a range of features such as messages, alerts, navigation routes, and even real-time translations. The main goal here is to further facilitate access to information and features, allowing users to quickly consult them without having to use their phone.

In addition to the display, the glasses also have an integrated camera, microphone, built-in speakers, and direct cloud connectivity. This means tasks like viewing WhatsApp messages, following Instagram posts, and making video calls can be done instantly and discreetly, virtually invisible to anyone nearby.

Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO, made a point of emphasizing that the Meta Ray-Ban Display isn’t a concept or prototype still under study and development, but a product ready to hit the market and be widely used. The launch is scheduled for September 30th, with a starting price of $799.

Neural wristband turns subtle hand gestures into digital commands

Another product that caught our attention and was highlighted in this latest launch is the Meta Neural Band, a wristband that comes with the glasses. Featuring highly advanced technology, the band is based on electromyography (EMG) technology, capable of capturing electrical signals sent by the brain to the hand muscles and then translating these impulses into digital commands.

In addition to the discreet nature of the glasses, the bracelet comes with the proposed table. In practice, the technology allows you to control the glasses with almost imperceptible finger movements. With a simple gesture, you can scroll through messages, select options, and even write short texts. According to Meta, the bracelet works with virtually anyone from the first use, and is presented as the result of years of research.

Besides presenting a completely new form of interaction, the Neural Band also explores the issue of accessibility. People with motor limitations or tremors, for example, can use the system and benefit from it, as it can identify muscle signals even before movement is visible.

Despite the innovations, the current model doesn’t achieve the sophistication promised by the Orion

While the announcement comes as major news, this isn’t Meta’s first foray into connected glasses. The company has previously launched models in partnership with Ray-Ban, but the addition of the display and neural strap are highlights that set the new product apart. Despite this, the new glasses still don’t reach the level of Project Orion, an augmented reality concept that Meta demonstrated in 2024 and which remains far from mass production.

Smart glasses aim to become the next big step in personal tech devices

For the average consumer, the immediate utility may lie in practicality: responding to messages quickly, checking the map while walking, or translating a conversation while traveling without having to take out your phone. Even though the technology sounds futuristic, the idea is precisely to simplify everyday actions.

The Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses and Neural Band bracelet represent a significant milestone in Meta’s attempt to carve out a niche for itself in the smart device market. By successfully combining style, artificial intelligence, and a new form of interaction, the company is taking a major step toward bringing wearable computing into people’s everyday lives.
