SonicWall debuts next-generation firewalls

SonicWall, the data security company, has new products it refers to as its Generation 8(Gen 8) Firewall. 9 new products that optimize protection and control their management for the first time, and, most importantly, implement the Zero Trust design pattern. This product launch represents a huge milestone for SonicWall to become the first in the market to offer a complete security platform for MSPs that meets the requirements of the ever-changing global security environment.

A series of multi-year investments

SonicWall announced the first complete, fully integrated Gen 8 product suite in a series of multi-year Investments on August 13, 2025. The lowest powered model, the TZ280, is designed for very small offices, and the highest powered model, the NSa 5800, is designed for larger, distributed corporations. Their products incorporate fully functional, high-speed, high-capacity threat protection, complex and fully versatile firewall-integrated products.

As Gen 8 continues to iterate from the other 10 products on the market, fully integrating the device control as well as the control and operational security services, SonicWall has provided a complete product offering.

With fully integrated and operational Zero Trust DevOps as well as Cloud Control, SonicWall continues to provide the market with the most operationally mature product. This fully integrated Cloud Control and Zero Trust DevOps has provided the market with the most device and operationally mature control product from the Gen 8 series.

Mature operational DevOps for the most complex operational products in the Gen 8 series

The mature operational DevOps products in the Gen 8 series comprise:

  • Unified Management: SonicWall Unified Management gives service providers a single pane of glass to view firewalls, policies, and access controls across multiple tenants, decreasing operational overhead and easing administrative tasks.
  • Incorporated Zero Trust: Every Generation 8 firewall comes with automatic ZTNA licenses to enable secure, identity-based access to cloud and private apps. ZTNA replaces old VPN technologies with more flexible, granular access control.
  • Co-Managed Security Services: Partners get to keep their customers and avoid firewall monitoring, patching, and optimization with SonicWallโ€™s managed protection Security Suite (MPSS), and also get 24-hour coverage along with compliance business.
  • Cyber warranty: As the first of its kind in the industry, SonicWall provides a cyber warranty, bundled with MPSS, giving civil coverage for certain cyberattacks.

Generation 8 firewalls offer great improvement in performance, with more throughput, more IPS, and advanced networking features, as a secure SD WAN. For more economy, NSa 4800 and NSa 5800, enterprises that need deep security inspections and high connectivity are also available; the TZ series provides more economy for small enterprises and branch offices, while offering superior protection.

All the models support the Zero Touch Deployment feature

The selected TZ models have integrated Wi-Fi 6 options that improve the wireless capabilities and are ideal for mixed work settings.

SonicWallโ€™s Gen 8 refresh is part of a greater shift towards outcome over standalone products. The platform integrates hardware, software, managed services, and adaptable billing options that assist and enable partners to shift from resellers to a trusted security provider. As VanKirk, the CEO of SonicWall, explains, with this launch,

โ€œWe arm our partners with the tools to win more business and build stronger trust with their customers by offering and defending them with market-leading cybersecurity protection.โ€

With the integration of Zero Trust, unified management, and co-managed services in its firewalls, SonicWall is strategically positioning itself among the platforms of choice for the MSSP and MSP markets. The Generation 8 portfolio meets market demand in scalability, simplicity, and security to protect todayโ€™s networks. With the new age of Cyber-attacks, Sonicwall’s Gen 8 firewalls are the most advanced technologies in the industry for the most integrated and automated firewalls, and for the most sophisticated and hybrid cloud environments, and are a new approach for network security.
