HONOR officially unveiled its new flagship smartphone line, the Magic8 series, at an event held in China. The devices are noteworthy for their AI-focused features, showcasing new ways for users to interact with their phones. In addition to some previously unseen features, the main differentiating factor is the large batteries and the dedicated AI button, designed to make daily use more practical and intelligent.
Magic8 ushers in a new phase for HONOR with integrated artificial intelligence
The Magic8 series was HONOR’s most important launch since its separation from Huawei. The brand’s objective with this new line was to create a concept they call a “self-evolving smartphone.” That is, a device that, in a way, creates a relationship with the user, learning and adapting its functions over time.
The standout model in this new line is the Magic8 Pro, equipped with the new YOYO intelligent agent, which was designed to be able to automatically perform tasks, ranging from deleting blurry photos to summarizing reports and sending them by email, all autonomously, without user intervention. This level of automation is possible thanks to the intelligent integration between hardware and software, which works in more than three thousand different scenarios.
The exclusive AI button allows instant access to YOYO or the configuration of personalized shortcuts for everyday actions such as opening the camera, initiating a call, or intelligently accessing memories, organizing documents and photos based on semantic recognition, and presenting them to the user. Ultimately, the objective is simple, despite involving advanced technology: to automate and optimize the user’s relationship with their mobile phone, reducing repetitive tasks and offering real convenience.
Cameras and imaging capabilities redefined by the combination of optics and AI
The Magic8 Pro features a 200-megapixel telephoto sensor, f/2.6 aperture, and artificial intelligence for image stabilization and correction. Even without the use of stabilizing elements such as a tripod, enlarged photos maintain sharp quality. The model also features Magic Color, a new system that uses deep learning to capture and process more than 16 million color tones, automatically adjusting brightness and contrast.
All these advancements are bringing the experience of using a cell phone closer and closer to that of a professional camera. The company claims that Magic Color simplifies the post-production process, allowing users to apply filters and cinematic styles quickly and intuitively.
Performance, battery life, and durability designed for modern everyday life
The Magic8 series is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, coupled with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The novelty lies in the use of AI in graphics performance, enabling the system to transform low-resolution games into 120 frames per second experiences with sharper images.
However, the battery is one of the features that most attracts attention in the Magic8. The Pro model has 7,200 mAh, which is due to the use of a new silicon-carbon battery technology that allows for more energy in less space. Fast charging reaches 120W wired and 80W wirelessly, guaranteeing all-day power in just a few minutes.
Enhanced durability and AI put HONOR’s new line in the spotlight
In addition to all the technical and usability advancements of the new line, HONOR also invested in the durability of the devices, with IP68 and IP69K certifications against dust, water, and drops. The MagicOS 10 operating system, based on Android 16, features a translucent interface and integration with Android, iOS, and Windows devices.
The launch of HONOR’s new line of cell phones demonstrates the brand’s desire not only to compete in the premium mobile device market but also to highlight the capabilities of AI in making people’s lives easier. With giant batteries, enhanced cameras, and intelligent automation, the brand positions itself among the leading players in the era of AI-powered cell phones.
