The IAA Mobility 2025 has displayed a showroom of spectacular conveyors of electric automobiles and even more remarkable visions in terms of combining conventional display grounds with street-level public action activities across the Bavarian city, with the big automakers of Germany, China, and others displaying their latest innovations in the field of sustainable transport and mobility technologies.
Neue Klasse iX3 is the leader of BMW
The IAA Mobility Show in Munich is not the same type of exhibition as the industry is generally moving on to smaller-scale events that no longer hold the interest of the population as they had historically, says Wallpaper. Besides the IAA Summit, aimed at professionals and media to attract big-name manufacturers and start-ups, commentators, and media-watchers on all sides of the mobility design, there is the IAA Open Space.
All the German manufacturers played the home-ground advantage. Munich is, anyway, the BMW home. To solidify this position, BMW decided to use the IAA to debut its Neue Klasse iX3, the initial production model under a fresh design language already shown in concept cars by several others. This new electric mid-sized SUV makes an impression in the metal, being restrained, and seemingly a U-turn, BMW taking in with their classic kidney grilles.
Polestar 5 production version revealed at last
This electric-powered SUV is an essential car for BMW, the first vehicle to appear under BMW Neue Klasse. It is a strategy to change the brand radically, both in its powertrains and software, but equally in its design and electrical design. It perhaps is, most welcome of all, like returning to more respectable kidney grilles–they were getting out of control.
The long-awaited Polestar 5 was finally unveiled at Munich as the production version of the model. Since the EV company is nearer and nearer to the finalized version of its promised line-up, the release of the 5 is the most upscale Polestar ever, the Performance model beginning at £104,900 in the Polestar Launch Edition. According to the initial concept of the 2020 Precept, the Polestar 5 is defined by the company as a performance grand tourer.
German automakers showcase electric innovation
VW also had a series of big news in its pockets, not just to the core Volkswagen brand but also to the more generally active VW Group. Besides cementing the presence of a small-scale, but still-related model between Volkswagen, Cupra, and Skoda, all sold at approximately €25,000, VW also tripled up on a new naming policy.
It happens to be that the ID.name plate is no longer going to be the sole indicator of the pure VW EV. By 2026, the ID.2 will then be expected to be called the ID.Polo, followed by the ID.Golf. It appears that the decision that these classic model names have been around for decades and have their devoted fanbase is easily accessible, and it can be easily transferred into the electric age.
Chinese brands drive the European market
The Chinese brands were also represented in abundance, with a new influx of metal that would spearhead the country in terms of Western market share. Leapmotor, Deepal, GAC, and Dongfeng used new models such as the GS7 SUV and its cartoonish animated headlights, and a new Forthing sub-brand in Europe by Dongfeng, and the Aito brand, belonging to Huawei, opened.
