The Israeli forces have not only escalated their assault on the Gaza City overnight in a horrific and unprecedented scale that has parched the Middle East crisis on top of the global agenda, but also killed an unprecedented number of innocent Palestinian human beings as a result of which the United Nations desperately tried to move diplomatic measures, with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres describing the war in Gaza as not only morally and politically but legally unacceptable and an outright.
How Israel’s Gaza City bombardment triggers international condemnation
The assaults by the Israelis were again experienced in the Gaza area, where at least 36 Palestinians have reportedly been slain by dawn windows at Al Jazeera. The Office of the UN High Commissioner of Human Rights (OHCHR) issues a warning that Israeli military actions are bringing terror on Palestinians of Gaza City and displacing tens of thousands. The OHCHR also reported that there was a sudden increase in the number of killed civilians in Gaza City.
There have been no fewer than 1723 medics who died in Gaza, according to the director general of the Health Ministry, Munir al-Bursh, who also indicated that Israelis have repeatedly attacked Gaza in the last month of October 2023. The Al Jazeera reporters were informed by him that the Israeli forces have taken 38 hospitals since the start of the war, but due to the war, the St John Eye Hospital, the al-Rantisi Children’s Hospital, and the Sheikh Hamad Hospital in Gaza City had not been operational anymore.
Why do UN experts call this systematic destruction genocide?
Based on a new UN report that was issued, it was confirmed that the Israeli government has developed a selective tendency to permanently occupy the Gaza Strip and also provide a Jewish majority in the occupied West Bank. The Commission of Inquiry of the United Nations detailed the massive systematic exercise of demolition of civilian infrastructure by Israel in the Gaza corridors and buffer zone, which had seen Israel extend its dominance to 75 percent of Gaza by July this year.
President Trump has started an event with Arab leaders on the fringes of the 80th UN General Assembly, saying it was of the essence to create bargains with the delivery of inmates in Israel. “I think we’ll be able to do it. This is the team that could do it, and Trump was sitting with several Arab leaders. It is the most significant meeting for me.
How the UN Secretary-General escalates pressure for an immediate ceasefire
Following the atrocity of Hamas attacks, which took place in October 2023, the world has seen the annihilation of dozens of neighborhoods, and now the systematic annihilation of Gaza City. It is the massive killing of civilians with which I have had to hear since becoming Secretary-General. It is a hideous situation that Palestinians have been patient with famine, and receive no kind of health help.
The Palestinian leaders petitioned the UN Security Council to initiate bold actions towards ending the war in Gaza by virtue of the seriousness of the Palestinian ambassador, Riyad Mansour. The issue of cessation of a genocide in Gaza is of utmost priority. One that can wait upon nothing; one that requires bold steps, yet Mansour made a declaration on the Middle East, during one of the councils.
Since the onset of the war, over 17,237 school children and 1,271 university students were killed, and one thousand nine hundred sixty-six education officials were also shot in Gaza. The number of school buildings hit simply refers to the hostile activities and has resulted in the damage of 432 school buildings since 7 October 2023, as well as 97 percent damage in Gaza.
