This month, Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta’s newest products: Ray-Ban Display smart glasses, as well as the Meta Neural Band. The announcement was made during the annual Meta Connect 2025 conference, with real-time demonstrations of the capabilities and usefulness of the two devices, demonstrations that were watched by people around the world.

Meta confirms Ray-Ban Display as ready-to-market product with launch date and set price

A standout feature that gives the glasses a futuristic touch is the subtle display built into the right lens. The screen isn’t always active — it only shows up when needed — and can present messages, notifications, navigation directions and even live translations. The idea is to make access to information quicker and easier, so users can check what they need instantly.

The amount of accessories that are attached to the glasses is impressive and intriguing ate the same time. In addition to the display, the glasses are equipped with a camera, microphone, built-in speakers, and direct cloud connectivity, enabling users to check WhatsApp messages, follow Instagram posts, or even make video calls quickly and almost invisibly to those nearby.

And the good news for those who were fascinated by this launch is that during the announcement, CEO Mark Zuckerberg stressed that the Meta Ray-Ban Display is not a prototype under development but a finished product which will not take long to be available for consumption, set to hit the market on September 30, with a starting price of $799.

Meta’s Neural Band allows intuitive control of smart glasses effortlessly

The glasses weren’t the only new thing at the event, another highlight of this launch is the Meta Neural Band, a wristband that comes bundled with the glasses. It uses a type of advanced technology called electromyography (EMG), it can detect the electrical signals sent from the brain to the hand muscles and transform those impulses into precise digital commands.

The bracelet comes with a proposal for easier interaction with the glasses. The technology makes it possible to control the device with finger movements so subtle they’re barely noticeable. A simple gesture lets you scroll through messages, choose options and type short texts. Meta explains that the wristband is functional for almost anyone right from the first try.

Another important point the Neural Band also addresses accessibility. For people with motor impairments or hand tremors, the system can be especially valuable, since it is able to detect muscle signals even before any visible movement occurs.

Meta’s innovations draw attention, but Orion still remains out of reach

Despite coming as an advanced and somewhat futuristic technology tool, this is not Meta’s first venture into smart eyewear. The company has already introduced other models in collaboration with Ray-Ban. Still, the glasses do not yet match the sophistication of Project Orion, the augmented reality concept unveiled in 2024, which remains far from reaching large-scale production.

Smart glasses and Neural Band bring convenience to everyday life

For consumers, this new product serves as a technological facilitator for daily tasks. Some actions that used to take a certain amount of time to perform directly using a cell phone now become independent of this direct use. The ability to quickly respond to messages, interact with AI, and even perform simultaneous translations are examples of actions that will be performed quickly and conveniently by accessing the cell phone through the glasses and bracelet.

In addition to the facilities, the product concept is a futuristic idea and is capable of arousing the interest of many technology enthusiasts. Now, we just have to wait for the launch to understand, in practice, all the features, usability of the glasses and their impact on consumers’ daily lives.
