First quantum computer deployed in NYC

Digital Realty and Oxford Quantum Circuits have launched the first quantum-AI data center in New York City, installing OQC’s GENESIS quantum computer at Digital Realty’s JFK10 facility and integrating it with NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchips, according to Washington Exec. The deployment marks the first time a quantum computer has been installed in a New York data center. The project combines OQC’s superconducting quantum hardware, NVIDIA’s accelerated AI computing and Digital Realty’s global infrastructure.

The site, located atย Digital Realty’s JFK10 facility, is built with NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchips and integrates OQC’s superconducting quantum hardware with NVIDIA accelerated computing, according to Data Centre Magazine. The initiative is described as a flagship project of the UKโ€“US technology trade partnership announced by President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

GENESIS system enables hybrid workloads

The facility houses OQC’s GENESIS quantum computer, the first such system deployed in New York City. Embedded within Digital Realty’s global PlatformDIGITAL, the infrastructure is designed to support secure, interconnected hybrid workloads for sectors such as finance and security. OQC expects future GENESIS systems to integrate NVIDIA technology as standard, building on its previous collaboration using the NVIDIA CUDA-Q platform to enable developers to create hybrid quantum-AI applications.

“Digital Realty’s mission hasย always been to enable the world’s most innovative technologies by providing secure, interconnected infrastructure at global scale,” says Andy Power, President and Chief Executive Officer of Digital Realty. “By working with OQC, we’re using NVIDIA supercomputing to make quantum-AI directly accessible in one of the world’s most important data hubs โ€“ empowering enterprises and governments to unlock new levels of performance and resilience.”

Applications across finance and security

The quantum-AI platform will support finance applications including faster and more accurate risk modeling, portfolio optimization, fraud detection and derivatives pricing. In security, applications include material simulation, logistics optimization and decision-making under uncertainty. For AI development, the platform enables accelerated model training, efficient data generation and emerging quantum machine learning applications.

“This Quantum-AI data centerย demonstrates how quantum can drive the AI revolution โ€“ securely, practically, and at scale โ€“ while strengthening the UK-US technology alliance,” says Gerald Mullally, CEO of OQC. “Leveraging Digital Realty’s infrastructure and NVIDIA supercomputing, we are redefining enterprise computing for finance and security.”

UK-US technology partnership strengthened

The project is presented as a central element of the UKโ€“US technology alliance, positioning quantum and AI infrastructure as a foundation for secure digital economies. The collaboration also demonstrates how British quantum expertise can be deployed at scale in the US through partnerships with leading technology firms. OQC is the only quantum computing company with live deployments in colocated data centers, with existing systems in London and Tokyo and now New York.

Its patented dual-rail Dimonย qubit technology reduces error rates and hardware overheads, which OQC says accelerates the path toward fault-tolerant systems. Working with Digital Realty, OQC plans to scale its technology for commercial impact in finance, defense and AI.

The opening of the first quantum-AI data center in New York is one of the largest steps towards quantum computing commercialization and shows how the complex quantum systems can be embedded into the modern data center infrastructure. This is a new paradigm in hybrid quantum-AI computing, placing OQC, Digital Realty and NVIDIA at the frontline of next-generation computing solutions and enhancing transatlantic technology relationships and positioning both companies as the leaders in next-generation computing solutions.
