Innovative cybersecurity technology SPTel now introduces AI-Security, an artificial intelligence-based virtual solution uniquely aimed at assisting small and medium enterprises to detect and analyze cyber threats in a fast and cost-efficient manner. This new solution solves the major cybersecurity gap SMEs are currently experiencing, as they may not have the resources and specialized knowledge to protect against even more advanced cyber threats and remain competitive in their current digital environment.
AI-powered 24/7 monitoring enhances threat detection
According to Tirto.id, SPTel has today announced the introduction of an AI tool, AI-Security, which assists small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to identify and evaluating cyber risks in a cost-effective and fast manner. AI-Security uses Artificial Intelligence to offer 24/7 surveillance of the most recent cybersecurity guidelines and published vulnerabilities by technology vendors and security organizations.
Threats and vulnerabilities are cross-referenced against the SME digital infrastructure by the system, and, in the event of a threat or vulnerability detection, AI-Sec will promptly provide an alert, allowing engineers or network service providers such as SPTel to respond swiftly and invest in remediation.
Classification of risk simplifies prioritization of response
In order to enable improved decision-making, AI-Security categorises every threat based on the risk-based matrix of the SME so that it fits its risk policies and provides a clear structure to prioritise response to efficiently allocate its resources. This will be of particular advantage to SMEs because it does not require specific cybersecurity personnel and the associated training.
Cyber threats are changing quickly than conventional defences can match them. Introducing AI-Security, we are providing SMEs with an effective AI instrument that takes cybersecurity beyond reactive protective measures to proactive intelligence, said Heng Kwee Tong, Head of Engineering and Corporate IT, SPTel.
Strategic partnership provides local infrastructure benefit
AI-Security was co-created with technology partner 1CloudStar and has the added benefit of being deployed on SPTel edge cloud, which is housed in the secure SPTel hubs located in Singapore. This gives better physical security and guarantees sovereignty of data, also allowing businesses a sense of assurance that their data does not leave Singapore. Also, the distributed architecture of SPTel spanning Singapore helps reduce latency to enable applications such as AI-Security to provide responsive performance.
At 1CloudStar, we understand that cybersecurity tools ought to empower the SMEs and not overwhelm them, said Mike Li, Founder and CEO, 1CloudStar. The Cyber Landscape 2023 report published by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore notes that more than 80% of the organisations surveyed have at least one cybersecurity incident annually that leads to business effects, including business disruption, data loss, and reputational damage.
When faced with the consequences of a cyber incident, SMEs may be most impacted in cases where they often do not possess specific expertise and do not have sufficient resources; therefore, the importance of quality cyber defence to business resilience and operational continuity.
An extensive launch plan focuses on adoption in the market
To launch the service, SPTel will provide 1,000 Singapore SME members of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) with one free trial account based on the AI-Security service. This initiative is part of how SPTel is democratizing access to cybersecurity for smaller businesses. The solution allows a smaller business to protect against cyber threats in a way that is as agile and as certain as bigger businesses, without the expense of a large cybersecurity team.
The AI-Security offered by SPTel is an important step in bringing advanced cybersecurity solutions to SMEs, bridging the highly important gap between what small businesses can afford and what larger enterprises can afford. This solution will put Singaporean SMEs in a better position to mitigate the emerging cyber threats through AI-enabled threat detection capabilities, leveraging local infrastructure benefits, and strategic alliances, without compromising operational efficiency and competitiveness.
