Many recalls have been issued in the past, and now consumers are encouraged to immediately stop using a bed rail that is for sale at retail giants such as Walmart and Amazon. The CPSC issued has been made based on a safety warning after the product was linked to a fatal accident.  An official recall has not yet been made by the manufacturers of the product, but consumers should not use it anymore. The main reason for this is because of the safety of consumers may be at risk.

Details behind the CPSC issue

Federal safety officials made a public warning about the OasisSpace bed rails that can trap those who are using it between the rail and the mattress. It has been found that one fatal case has already been reported in Ohio, as stated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is encouraging Walmart and Amazon consumers to stop using bed rails sold at Walmart and Amazon. This is after the death of an 81-year-old woman who used this bed rail occurred. The OasisSpace bed rails, has been distributed and sold by Gold Kernal LLC. It is important for consumers to note that this specific product has been flagged by the CPSC.

The reason for the issue

The reason for this is because it has been found that the product has created an asphyxiation hazard. This hazard creates the possibility for users to become entrapped between the bed rail and mattress. Therefore, it can be concluded that the bed rails failed to meet the requirements that has been set forth by the Safety Standard for Adult Portable Bed Rails. Customers are warned to stop using this product that is sold at Walmart and Amazon after a death has been reported.

The affected Walmart and Amazon Bed rail

The CPSC stated that the Gold Kernal has not issued a recall when it comes to the bed rails. The company has not even offered a remedy to consumers who may have bought these products. The warning that has been issued by the CPSC covers four models of OasisSpace bed rails, including:

  • Model Number: F042, Dimensions: Adjustable height from about 28.5 to 42 inches; 17 inches wide
  • Model Number: F127, Dimensions: Adjustable height from about 12 to 18 inches; 13 inches wide
  • Model Number: G132, Dimensions: Adjustable height from about 18 to 22 inches; 13 inches wide
  • Model Number: G286, Dimensions: About 16 inches high and 38 inches wide

In addition, about 86,100 bed rails were sold from July 2019 to February 2025 on OasisSpace.com, Amazon.com, and Walmart.com. These items were available for a price at $30 and $108. Also, prodhave beenbeen found for sale by third-party sellers and websites like eBay.com. The CPSC recommends that consumers immediately stop using the product and dispose of them. Consumers are encouraged to report any incidents involving injury or product defect to the CPSC at www.SaferProducts.gov.
