Christmas is coming to Costco — 5 top-festive items in the “What’s New?” aisle

One of America’s retail warehouses, Costco, announced the implementation of a new food court item. This highlights another change that will be occurring in the retailer’s food courts. One of the most notable aspects of the retailer is its low prices. Consumers can prepare themselves to enjoy this new product in the food courts at a low price. Consumers have always been excited about the retailer’s changes and additions to the food court. This new addition will not be any different.

Details behind this new product

In 2024, Costco started enforcing a new policy where food courts were for members of the retailer only. This effort was part of a wider crackdown on membership sharing. Also, it came in response to members who have shared their complaints about crowded stores and parking lots.

Now, if consumers want to enjoy a Costco food court meal, they have to officially join – or find a way that will get them into the store without paying for a membership. However, it all might be worth it to join Costco, even if it is just for the food court alone. That way, consumers can enjoy the fan favourite $1.50 hot dog and soda combo or perhaps take home a giant pizza which is available for under $10.

The new product at the retail giant

Costco is not the kind of retailer that likes to let things be, the company is always focused on providing its consumers with the best experience possible. At times the retailer will be switching things up in terms of inventory or services and constantly trying to offer new value to members.

Also, part of that strategy extends to the food court. The retail warehouse frequently rotates food court products to keep the menu interesting for its consumers. In recent years, the retailer introduced offerings such as the:

  • Giant chocolate chip cookie
  • Rotisserie chicken Caesar salad
  • Turkey and provolone sandwich
  • Frozen strawberry lemonade

Now, Costco added another new product to its food court lineup. This special new item is a salted caramel brownie sundae. So far, the reviews on this new product are overwhelmingly positive. In fact, several positive comments have been shared on social media.

On Instagram, a user @costcohotfinds shared a video of the new dessert, and it was drool-worthy. The video portrayed a heaping vanilla ice cream sundae which was topped with brownie bits and a caramel sauce throughout. The vide stated that, “There was no shortage of brownie bits in this dessert.”

Costco’s food courts

Some of the changes the retail giant made to Costco’s food court in recent years, have not sit well with some of its members. For example, several people were upset about the fact that Costco replaced its famous churros with a massive chocolate chip cookie. It has been stated that it was basically an oversized replica of the cookies which were sold in bulk in the bakery section.

Similarly, many people criticized the frozen strawberry lemonade, they alluded to the fact that this product was too sweet. However, thus far, Costco fans looks like they are loving the salted caramel brownie sundae. This product is available at a very affordable price point of $2.99.

One Reddit poster said, “Who’s the evil genius who came up with that one? I salute him!” Another user on social media said, “This looks AMAZING.” In addition, third Redditor stated that the product, “Probably has like 120 grams of sugar. Do I care? No. Nothing will stand in between me and that sundae.” It is important to take note, especially for those who are keeping score, that Costco stated that its new sundae contains 810 calories.
