Responses of Costco’s shoppers
Costo’s shoppers have a lot to say about these memberships increases. For example, one of the shoppers stated on social media that they are planning on cancelling their membership. This same shopper stated that they will wait for another tech deal to come around because it will be a waste of time to pay these high prices. Also, another shopper stated in Facebook that there is no justification for paying the extra money. They further alluded to the fact that you do not save anything on branded products and that only Kirkland products are worth it.
Furthermore, a third shopper indicated that, they will not renew their membership because it is getting too expensive. However, this shopper already renewed membership for this year although their membership is only due in April 2025. They renewed it to stay clear of the rise in prices but will only endure it this year and will not renew again. This shopper will rather focus on savings.
In addition, some of the shoppers supported Costco’s decision for the membership increase. For example, another shopper indicated that, for individuals changing to the Gold Star membership will only pay 2 percent a day if you calculate it for the year. They stated that it is just a £8.40 increase and that this will be the first raise of membership increases in nine years.
Another shopper supported this sentiment and added that they love Costco. They indicated that the increase is with it, especially for the fuel, tyres, and bakery. This shopper further alluded to the fact that individuals get a decent amount of money back with the executive membership.
