Christmas is coming to Costco — 5 top-festive items in the “What’s New?” aisle

One of America’s top retail giants, Walmart, encountered a recall of several products that may be a threat to the health and safety of consumers. As is known, the retailer is always concerned about its consumers and therefore encourages them to remain safe and be on the lookout for affected items. Amongst the several product recalls, a life-threatening health warning is included.

Ice Cream Products: Helados Mexico & La Michoacana

Last Friday, Tropicale Foods announced a voluntary issue of certain Helados Mexico and La Michoacana ice cream products. This occurred after a label audit; it found that even though the products listed “cream” as an ingredient, it does not explicitly include “milk.” As a result, this could endanger those consumers who have an allergy to milk or those who specifically avoid consuming products containing milk.

Also, milk is one of the severe allergens under federal labeling laws. Therefore, the recall alluded to the fact that it poses a risk to consumers with allergies or major sensitivity issues. The affected products were sold at several Walmart retailers in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Consumers are encouraged to be vigilant if they purchased these products and not to consume it.

Member’s Mark Freeze Dried Fruit Variety Pack

A recall by Doehler Dry Ingredient Solutions, LLC, was used for the Member’s Mark Freeze Dried Fruit Variety Pack.  These are the 15-count boxes with the unit number of UPC 1 93968 50900 2. According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) these boxes were contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This can cause fatal infections, especially in young children.

Also, elderly individuals and those with weaken immune systems are at major risk to be victims of fatal infections. As could be expected, severe health implications are at the forefront, so it is essential to be safe, especially those individuals who already purchased this product. Listeria can also affect pregnant women and may even lead to miscarriages and stillbirths. Healthy consumers may only suffer short-term symptoms such as:

  • high fever,
  • Severe headache,
  • Stiffness,
  • Nausea,
  • Abdominal pain, and
  • Diarrhea,

Moreover, it is crucial to note that, as to date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall. The affected products were sold at some of the Sam’s Clubs, which is owned by Walmart Inc. The following states are affected and Puerto Rico: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Walmart: High Noon’s Beach Variety Packs

The Vodka Seltzer Beach Pack, the 12 Pack to be specific, has been recalled by High Noon. According to the company some of the cans has been mislabels. The variety packs contain cans that were mislabelled as CELSIUS® ASTRO VIBE™ Energy Drink.  Therefore, some of the cans may result in unintentional alcohol absorption. These mislabeled cans that contains alcohol raise health concerns for many consumers.

This is especially the case when it comes to minors and consumers who avoid alcohol for medical, religious reasons, or just personal reasons in general. Consumers should be vigilant to prevent their children or anyone to consume alcohol against their will. The products were sold at the following Walmart stores:

  • Florida,
  • Michigan,
  • Ohio,
  • South Carolina,
  • Virginia, and
  • Wisconsin.

Consumers who purchased any of the recalled items are advised not to consume the indicated products and to dispose of it. They are also welcome to return the items to the Walmart store where possible.
