Christmas is coming to Costco — 5 top-festive items in the “What’s New?” aisle

One of America’s popular retailers, Costco, is just stealing the hearts of many of its consumers. The company is doing this by returning a previous fan-favourite product that was stopped for a while. Consumers were devasted when the retailer removed this product from its shelves but will definitely be on the moon when they hear this amazing news—the return of the beloved favourite!

The story behind the fan-favourite product

In the past few years, many retailers, including Costco, had to make difficult decisions of changing products, changing prices, and discontinuing some fan favourite products. Reasons for this varied from store to store, country to country, and business to business. This became even more challenging when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world.

The pressures that came with the pandemic, might have added to the difficulty to uphold this product in Costco stores. Thus, as a result, the retailer made the decision to discontinue the product. This happened to various of products that has been discontinued and now back in Costco’s Food Courts.

Therefore, now that it is back, hopefully to stay this time around – you have to try it! Because you never know how long a product might be found on the shelves of retailers, so get this fan-favourite sandwich while you can! Many may have thought if this may be a good idea because of how consumers will respond, but several positive feedback was received from consumers, regarding the availability of the hot turkey and provolone sandwich.

Bringing it back to Costco’s shelves

After Costco took a 5-year break from this product, the beloved sandwich finally returned to Costco food courts this week. This fan favourite hot turkey and provolone sandwich – which mysteriously disappeared from menus during the pandemic – is officially back. However, it is important to note that there might be a few changes, hence consumers should not expect the sandwich to be 100% the same as previously.

As stated by the NJ.com, the latest version of the panini-pressed sandwich consists of the original oven-roasted turkey, provolone cheese, red onions, tomatoes. However, this time around it will contain basil garlic mayonnaise instead of basil pesto sauce. Also, the new version of the sandwich is being sold for $6.99 – this is three dollars more than its previous price at Costco stores.

The responses of consumers

Many of the fans of this heartedly missed sandwich have been celebrating its return on the public platform Reddit. One of the consumers wrote the following on the platform, after they received the news of the return of the product; “Oh wow! Santa got my letters!” Also, another consumer wrote that they have missed the product severely. It is important to note that the reviews have been mostly positive regarding the return.

Additionally, another happy consumer stated that the sandwich is really tasty. They added the following to their statement; “Probably the tastiest of all the non-dessert food court items (in my opinion).” It is evident that consumers really enjoy buying at eating this product. They stated that the bread might look tough, but it is soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. A consumer mentioned that they do not think it may be as filing as a slice of pizza, but that can be a good thing.

Additionally, for the loyal consumers who may be worried that the sandwich may not taste the same as the original one or the quality may decrease, one consumer wrote on Reddit that “It has more meat than the old one, but otherwise, it’s pretty much the same.” This is especially good feedback for those who are worried about the price increase. Some may be thinking if they will get their money’s worth by paying for something that they do not know the quality of.
