Government Announces a Nationwide Recall at Costco and Sam’s Club – What Shoppers Must Do If They Bought This Product

Christmas is coming to Costco — 5 top-festive items in the “What’s New?” aisle

Warehouse giant, Costco appears to have plan after plan up its sleeve for 2025. Since January, the retailer has made all sorts of announcements from expansion plans to the discontinuation of its book section, and customers have been sharing a wide array of reactions.

The latest announcement, however, is being gladly accepted by members of the warehouse chain as it adds a new level of convenience to their Costco experience. The announcement in question is the new, extended operating hours for the filling stations run by the company.

Costco is fuel efficient and now, time efficient

A post made on Facebook on February 18 revealed that the gas stations operated by Costco Warehouse will now adopt extended operating hours so as to better accommodate the schedules of its customers. The filling stations will open earlier and close later. The warehouse operating hours will remain unchanged, however.

According to the post, the new extended hours of operation are “6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sundays.” Additionally, the post notes that shoppers should check in with their nearest stores to confirm the updated hours. Locations in Hawaii and California may have differing hours as well.

Costco Fuel filling stations may only be used by shoppers in possession of a Costco membership, as is the standard for the retailer. The membership system requires customers to pay an annual fee of $65 in order to gain access to the warehouses and filling stations. This annual fee is well worth its cost since the retailer offers almost unmatchable pricing on its products. Additionally, the retailer’s Kirkland signature fuel is known to be around 20 cents cheaper per gallon when compared to other local competitors. The retailer shared that it offers “consistently low, member-exclusive prices,” along with a staff of safety attendants on site.

Despite its significantly lower price point, the Kirkland fuel is TOP TIER certified and is claimed to extend the longevity of your vehicle’s engine. According to the retailer, the Kirkland fuel is “specially formulated with deposit control additives that clean engines and reduce harmful buildup.”

In addition to flexibility and convenience, the extended operating hours will also aid the flow of traffic at the filling stations as drivers will have a larger window of time to fill up rather than the probable concentration of motorists trying to fill up in the short period after work and before closing time.

What else is new at the warehouse?

Last September saw an increase of $5 and $10 for membership fees, along with the announcement that the warehouses will no longer carry a book selection year-round. Instead, books will only be on offer seasonally, around the festive period and customers were not pleased in the slightest.

Another service that had been revoked was the self-serve coffee grinders found around the store. The reasoning behind this decision is not entirely clear, however, some shoppers have shared on social media that they had seen other shoppers misusing the grinders by placing foreign items in it. Customers showed mixed responses to the removal of the public-use coffee grinders with some lamenting the loss of convenience, whilst others showed an indifference.

An announcement that was met with overwhelming support from the majority of customers was the upcoming re-introduction of Coca-Cola products in the warehouse food court this summer. The company will be phasing out its use of Pepsi products that has been in place since 2013 and customers could not be more excited.

The retailer initially offered Coca-Cola products at its food courts but after Pepsi offered a better deal, the company made the switch so as to maintain the low prices of its meals. Now, 12 years later, shoppers can soon enjoy an ice-cold coke with their $1.50 hot dog combo — the price of which will remain unaffected even after the change.
