Walmart, America’s biggest retailer, recently announced a recall of certain products. Consumers who purchased these products must return them as soon as possible. Generally, a recall of specific items occurs because there might be something wrong with the item—and to prevent the consumer’s health and safety from being affected – companies make a recall. This is what Walmart is currently doing with the recall of the Crackers sold at the company.
FDA announces recall of Oyster Crackers
Walmart is unfortunately one of the retailers who fall victim to the recall of oyster crackers. However, it is not the only retailer. It has been identified that more than 15,000 cases of oyster crackers were recalled – from retailers like Walmart, Target, and Giant Eagle. These cases all included a common factor – stainless steel wire was found in the oyster cracker which is an extremely dangerous contamination.
In addition, this recall was initiated on 21 February 2025, and was it was classified as “Class II.” As stated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United Stated on 11 March 2025, this Class II meant that the product may result in “temporary” or “reversible” health consequences if it should be consumed. These oyster crackers were manufactured by Shearer’s Foods, LLC.
Furthermore, the manufacturer Shearer’s Foods made an announcement to recall these products in February 2025. Thus, it is highly likely that the recalled products are off the shelves of the retailers by now. If you are one of the consumers who purchased the recalled oyster crackers, you should not consume the product! Instead, you should rather throw it away or return it to the store where you purchase it, for a refund or exchange.
