Here is everything you need to know about the recent frosted sugar cookie recall as initiated by the Food and Drug Administration.
Target sugar cookies recalled due to presence of “foreign material”
Citing a potential presence of wood pieces, the Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall on a popular frosted sugar cookie sold at Target stores across the country. On July 22nd, a recall had been issued for Favorite Day Bakery Frosted Sugar Cookies which are sold in packs of ten. The recall was voluntarily issued by the manufacturer of the frosted sugar cookies, Give and Go Prepared Food Corps in Canada.
The Food and Drug Administration shared that the recall had been initiated because the sugar cookies could possibly contain pieces of wood. More than 800 cases of the sugar cookies have been impacted by this recall, which amounts to over 12,000 individual cookies.
The Food and Drug Administration has classified this recall as a Class II recall. There are a total of three classes in which a recall can be categorized, with Class I being of the highest risk, and Class III being of the lowest risk. As such, according to the Food and Drug Administration, exposure to a product classified as Class II is described a “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
