The impact on this giant retailer

It is essential to note that in the last three years, Walmart has been forced to shut down numerous of its stores in the country. Although the retailer has plans to open more than 150 new branches in the short term, the retailer made the decision to decrease its presence in certain areas.  Additionally, the company’s strategy is aimed at dispensing with low-performing premises, while it is concentrating on its efforts to strengthen Walmart’s presence in specific locations that will result in better returns.

Moreover, the retailer continues to bet on its growth in America, as time goes on. Even though the company is currently adjusting its presence in some of the areas, it is essential to acknowledge that it still maintains a strong operation with thousands of stores. While the closures of stores have raised some concern amongst various stakeholders, the company is focusing on the improvement of the strength of its business model, and it is also aimed at adapting to new, innovative retail trends.

In addition, the retailer may not necessarily be in crisis. Although it is currently experiencing several store closures, Walmart continues with a strong and solid growth strategy. The retail giant continues to invest in key areas to strengthen its business, these areas include:

  • Modernization of stores and improvement of the customer experience.
  • Supply chain optimization to reduce costs.
