One of America’s biggest retailers, Walmart, recently came under the narrow eyes of consumers. The reason for this is that many consumers received unauthorised chargers on their bank accounts, indicating it is from Walmart. Therefore, the credit union warns consumers to be vigilant and continuously check their bank accounts, since it received reports from users about fraudulent chargers.

Fraudulent Walmart Charges

As digitalisation expands and technology grows – it is essential for users to remain vigilant as far as possible. Just as good as this change and growth in technology can be, it can also be dangerous if not used for the right reasons. It is for this reason that citizens should be familiar with what steps to take when something like this happens to them.

According to statements made, some members of the famous retail chain made fraudulent reports to Walmart.com. The retailer responded to this on this past Tuesday, by stating the company is aware of the incident that some members have fraudulent charges pending on their bank accounts. However, the company is taking the initiative to reverse any charges that might look like fraudulent charges.

Walmart’s statement on the charges

The statement that was released by the company asked the members to wait to dispute the pending transaction until it is fully posts to their account. This is when the issue can be address and it seems that nothing can be done while it is still pending. Therefore, the company added that it will work with the members who are affected by this situation – assisting with a refund of their money.

Also, Walmart recommended that users stop any card with unauthorized transactions and rather request a new card through online banking. They are more than welcome to call 800-234-1234 or visit the nearest branch. According to the credit union’s website, Redstone Federal Credit Union currently functions in 27 branch locations in north Alabama. Redstone Federal Credit Union is one of the state’s largest credit unions and will always do its best to assist citizens.

What to do next?

Consumers might feel left in the dark because they do not know what to do and how these fraudulent charges occurred. This is especially frustrating if it is the first time and from such a well-known retailer that you may visit on a regular. If you do not know what to do and how to protect yourself, know that the company will ensure to address this situation.

Many may ask what steps they should take if they do see an unauthorised charge on their bank accounts. The simple answer is to act immediately. As mentioned previously in this article, if you do see unauthorised transactions or charges to your account, it is important to contact the stakeholders involved. You should ensure that your card is either stopped, freeze, or cancelled. After this step is done, you can request for a new card to ensure safety and security.
