Just like the issue of speed limits, the seatbelt issue is still going on. It is like drivers do not understand how important seatbelts are. However, a new strict law is coming into place; it came into implementation this month of July, and the goal is just to keep everyone safe. A particular state has placed a rule that whether you are a driver or a passenger, you are obliged and expected to wear a seatbelt; it is not a suggestion or optional. Many people have died because of this issue. People who would have still had their lives were harmed because of the seatbelt issue, where people just do not wear them.
The seatbelt station is often ignored but it is essential
Some people have never been hurt, injured, witnessed an accident or been involved in an accident themselves, and at times they feel as if it is not a big deal when he or she does not wear a seatbelt; however, the truth is, life is unpredictable and o never know. Let’s say you come across a reckless driver and he knocks your car. There is a 45% chance of surviving when you have your seatbelt on and a 100% chance of dying when you are not buckled up.
Then, there are seasons like summer, when people travel a lot, families go on road trips, and that is when roads are the busiest. Therefore, authorities always urge drivers to ensure their passengers are buckled up, and themselves too, because that is when accidents are at their peak. Therefore, this freedom comes with rules that help you protect your life from losing it in joy.
No more second chances after July 1st under Virginia’s new seatbelt law
If you thought you could do away with it or get away with it, not this time around. The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), along with local law enforcement and the Virginia State Police, has intensified the rules. No one is allowed to be in a vehicle and not have a seatbelt on. In fact, prior to this, drivers were the ones who would mostly have their belts buckled up, and passengers would not. But that ended.
From the 1st of July, expect this on the road
- A police officer can pull you over if you do not have a seatbelt, both the driver and the passengers.
- Fines will increase, and if the violations are repeated, it will be a strong offence.
“Click It or Ticket” just got real in Virginia
This is a slogan that came into place when a mother lost her son to an accident because his seatbelt was not buckled. The slogan is not new, but the awareness is being intensified now. There is no room for pity, consideration, or empathy. If you are not wearing your seatbelt, it is an offence, and you will be stopped. This blends in with the new speed rules associated with a speed-limiting device, which is mandatory as of July 1, as well.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, safety and protection are the objectives. They are doing people a favour because most of them just do not see the importance of wearing a seatbelt. While others do, they are just too stubborn to obey the rules. However, it is good to see the state of Virginia making all these road rules and making sure that everyone is safer and protected. Therefore, let us create more awareness and ensure that the world becomes a better place. Just take note that soon, speed limit control device will be mandatory.
