Vordel adds interoperability to the cloud

Now customers can avoid getting locked into a single cloud computing vendor

XML networking management company Vordel’s new product, the Vordel Gateway Cloud Edition, provides interoperability for cloud computing platforms such as Amazon, Force.com and Google.

The product’s interoperability feature means that an organization doesn’t have to be locked into a single cloud computing vendor, Vordel said.

Deployed on an organization’s local network, the Vordel Gateway Cloud Edition acts as the pivot point between applications and cloud-based services, providing an on-ramp from local applications to the cloud.

Lacking proprietary hardware, the product lets users benefit from the elasticity of the cloud to scale; capacity is added automatically as traffic grows, the company said.

“Low capital and operating costs make cloud computing very attractive,” said Mark O’Neill, Vordel’s chief technology officer. “However, security and interoperability are key concerns. At Vordel we saw that a way to leverage cloud computing services in a controlled, secure manner was required. The array of cloud connectors in the Vordel Gateway Cloud Edition offers organizations a pragmatic way to link to cloud platforms without coding and with governance in place.”
