Polestar is offering US buyers $25,000 off a cash purchase of the 2026 Polestar 4 this month, the largest single rebate the Swedish electric-vehicle brand has posted on the model and one of the biggest manufacturer discounts on any EV currently on the American market. The offer is valid from August 1 through August 31, 2026, and buyers must take delivery by that date.
A sharp jump from the previous incentive
According to Polestar’s official US offers page, the company will provide a $25,000 Clean Vehicle Incentive off MSRP for customers who purchase a new 2026 Polestar 4 vehicle with cash. Buyers who finance through Polestar Financial Services can instead receive an $18,000 Polestar Clean Vehicle Incentive paired with 0% APR for up to 60 months.
A new 2026 Polestar 4 currently starts at $57,800 for the rear-motor variant. The $25,000 discount pulls that down to $32,800, around the same price as a Toyota Camry. Current or former Polestar owners and eligible household members may qualify for a $1,000 loyalty bonus on a new Polestar 4 purchase, for up to $26,000 in potential savings.
The $25,000 discount applies to cash purchases and cannot be combined with the 0% financing deal. Interest-free financing can, however, be paired with an $18,000 discount, making the Polestar 4 a competitive 0% financing option.
For lessees, Polestar’s own lease sheet shows a $19,000 non-cash incentive applied to a 27-month contract on the dual-motor variant, priced at an MSRP of $64,300.
Why Polestar is clearing inventory now
Polestar, the Swedish EV brand owned by Chinese automaker Geely, announced that the US Department of Commerce declined to grant it authorization under the Connected Vehicle Rule, effectively barring the company from marketing or selling new model-year 2027 vehicles in the United States.
The Connected Vehicle Rule targets data security concerns by restricting the use of certain foreign technologies. The software ban restricts the use of software developed or maintained by Chinese or Russian companies for the 2027 model year. Polestar’s ban came even as it makes one of its vehicles, the Polestar 3, at a plant shared with Volvo, also a Geely portfolio company. Volvo, however, received a waiver to sell vehicles despite the rule.
Polestar is offering $25,000 off the 2025 Polestar 3 and up to $25,000 off the Polestar 4 as the EV maker clears US inventory before its market exit. The automaker will continue selling its remaining US inventory of Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 vehicles until stock is exhausted.
The Polestar 4 offers a range of up to 310 miles on a single charge depending on electric motor configuration, and its pricing, even before the rebate, had already been positioned below the brand’s other models.
Broader EV incentive landscape
As of October 1, 2025, there are no more federal tax credits for any new or used electric vehicle, but many manufacturers have been compensating with aggressive discounts and 0% financing to keep EV sales moving.
With hybrid vehicles claiming a record share of new US vehicle sales, pure-electric brands face mounting pressure to compete on price without government subsidy support.
This month, EVs with discounts worth up to $25,000 off MSRP, as on the 2026 Polestar 4, represent some of the deepest manufacturer rebates in the market. Polestar’s cash offer sits well above the elevated EV incentive benchmark seen industrywide, underscoring the urgency of its exit-driven sell-down.
For buyers willing to move quickly, the Polestar window closes at the end of this month. Current and former Polestar owners and eligible household members may qualify for the additional loyalty incentive; buyers should contact a Polestar retailer to confirm eligibility. The confluence of tariff-driven sticker increases and the loss of the federal credit has reshaped EV pricing dynamics, making a $32,800 effective price on a premium electric crossover a notable data point in the current market.
