For the past few weeks, Cracker Barrel, one of America’s chain restaurants, has made headlines because of its logo change. After decades of operation, the management decided to change the logo, and the company received backlash for this. It did not take the company long to reconsider implementing the change, and it decided against the new logo. This, after President Donald Trump indicated that it’s best if the company sticks with the old logo.

The new logo debacle

A few weeks ago, the restaurant spoke about implementing a new logo. However, as soon as the word got out, backlash began, and the company stopped the process. Several critics, including Robby Starbuck and Matt Walsh, accused Cracker Barrel of succumbing to the concept of “wokeness.” By adopting this concept, they claimed that the company is moving away from its country roots and its conservative values

Both President Donald Trump and his son Donald Trump Jr. made their disdain for the change in logo very clear. It did not take the company long to revert back to the old logo, after it receive hate from many people. On August 26, 2025, the company made a statement that it will be keeping the original logo. It has been stated that The White House immediately took credit for this change of decision made by the company.

According to a Truth Social post written by President Trump, he stated that all of the restaurant’s fans appreciate the decision that was made. This post soon followed the announcement made by the company to keep the old logo. He also stated the following, “Good luck into the future. Make lots of money and, most importantly, make your customers happy again!”

The controversy of the new logo

The controversy when it comes to Cracker Barrel’s new logo design began overnight, and so did the reversal of it. However, there were several events that occurred late in August 2025, just within days from each other. These events kept the brand in the public consciousness.

In addition, one of these events are the fact that President Donald Trump condemned the new logo design of the restaurant. Below is a timeline of how the Cracker Barrel logo saga started compared to how it ended:

  • Aug 19: This is when Cracker Barrel unveils new logo
  • Aug. 21: On this day the company’s stock took a dip by as much as 13%
  • Aug. 25: Cracker Barrel issues statement addressing logo backlash
  • Aug. 26: President Donald Trump stated that Cracker Barrel “should go back to the old logo”
  • Aug. 26: Cracker Barrel eventually made a statement that the company is going back to the old logo
  • Aug. 28: An ex-Cracker Barrel executive called the brand’s short-lived logo “bland” and “pitiful”
  • Sept. 4: On this day, President Donald Trump posted an edited clip of himself dancing with Cracker Barrel’s mascot

President Donald Trump dancing with Cracker Barrel

It seems that the President is enjoying the fact that Cracker Barrel’s mascot is sticking around. This is seen after he posted a video on X, where he danced with the restaurant’s mascot. I have been a week after the nationwide restaurant chain and country restaurant made an announcement that the company’s “Old Timer” logo was here to stay following a wave of customer backlash.

The company received backlash from several people including the president himself. However, after the announcement was made by the company about reverting back to the original logo, Trump shared an edited video of himself dancing with the company’s mascot. The video showed where he is busting a move with the overalls-clad old timer where he is leaning against a barrel to the tune of “YMCA.”

In addition, this 33-second clip was posted to social media platforms such as X and Facebook, on September 4, 2025. The video indicates that President Trump is walking into a frame, and he is shaking hands with the mascot, before a montage of them dancing together and cheering each other on ensues.
