An urgent warning has been issued because two products sold by Walmart pose a series of risks. The American government made this a nationwide issue since one of the products may serve as a safety threat to consumers. The other products may result in fatal incidents for children. Therefore, consumers are encouraged to be on the lookout for these products, since they could be extremely dangerous.

Details about the urgent warning

The two products sold by Walmart and some of the other national retailers have been recalled nationwide due to the possibility of fatal safety issues. On Thursday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued several recalls. There was a recall warning on about 481,000 Anker portable power banks. The reason for the recall was because of fire and burn hazards.

The other product that was recalled was about 11,200 EnHomee 13-drawer fabric dressers. The reason for this specific recall was because these items can tip over and entrap, and possibly kill, children. Thus, this warning of the recall is urgent because children are at risk if consumers have this item in their homes.

The importance of this recall

The products that have been recalled, pose fire, burn, or serious injury risks, especially to children, is critical for public safety. These specific hazards could lead to severe consequences, including permanent harm or death. Additionally, prompt recalls assist in preventing accidents, it helps to protect vulnerable consumers and hold manufacturers accountable. It also reinforces trust when it comes to product safety standards and regulatory oversight.

Moreover, the Anker recall involves lithium-ion batteries that has been stated by the CPSC, as having the possibility to overheat. As a result of the overheating, it could then cause fires and burn injuries. The company reported 33 incidents which includes four minor burn injuries and one accident of substantial property damage. The batteries serve as a risk of fire whether it is during normal use or while charging.

The two affected items

This specific recall warning includes the power banks with model numbers A1647, A1652, A1257, A1681 and A1689. The serial numbers of these items are listed on the back or side of the device. Consumers are encouraged to stop using the recalled power banks and visit the company’s recall page to verify serial numbers and register for a refund or gift card.

The company is also offering a full cash refund or an Anker gift card; consumers must submit a photograph showing the model number, serial number, their name, the date and the word “recalled” written on the device. Consumers should immediately dispose of recalled lithium-ion batteries and are urged not to place them in regular trash or standard recycling streams. Also, consumers should rather contact local household hazardous waste (HHW) collection centers for guidance.

On the other hand, the EnHomee dresser recall warning is connected to unstable clothing storage units that can tip over if not anchored. As a result of this, it poses a risk of a severe injury or death to young children. According to the CPSC, it was found that the EnHomee units does not meet the mandatory STURDY Act standard for clothing storage stability.

The dressers (55.12″ W x 35.45″ H x 11.02″ D) were available for sale in rustic brown, white, black and pink and are unstable if it is not anchored. In addition, around 11,200 units were sold online through platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, Wayfair, Shein, TikTok, Shopify and Temu between September 2023 and March or May 2024 depending on color and listing.

In addition, consumers are encouraged to take the warning seriously and to stop using unanchored units. They should also move these items out of children’s reach. Consumers are welcome to follow EnHomee’s instructions to identify affected units and to submit a photo of the disposed dresser to [email protected] to receive a full refund.
