Finally, the wait is over. IKEA is officially expanding to more locations, and more people will be able to make use of the store. Alabama is set to soon welcome the opening of the new store, ready for those who need home renovations and accessories. Homeowners do not have to look any further; the store they need is now close to home.

About the retailer

The retailer is known for its home furnishings and accessories that help ensure the living spaces of its consumers are comfortable and homely. The retailer has been around for many years, but it has only been operating in some states. The reason for this varies from location to location, but it is on the rise to expand to other locations. A spokesperson for the retailer spoke to AL.com and said that the retailer is always looking for new and exciting opportunities.

The spokesperson further stated that the retailer is eager to expand and is looking for growth opportunities, which opening in Alabama also serves as. As IKEA is focused on continuous expansion, it always considers new ways to meet the expectations of its consumers. The needs of the consumers are crucial for the retailer; therefore, it tries its best to meet the needs of consumers across the United States.

IKEA coming to Alabama

An announcement was made on Monday that a new store is opening in Huntsville in early 2026. This will be IKEA’s first location in Alabama, which is a major move for both the retailer and for consumers. The exact location of the store will be at the University Place Shopping Center at 6125. Consumers in Alabama can expect something new and something different from what they are used to.

The store will have a central planning area where consumers will be able to have a one-on-one with one of IKEA’s experts. They will have the opportunity to meet with planners for personalized design consultations—whether it is for their kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, small-space living, or even just an overall home renovation.

Additionally, what will make the experience even more brilliant is the fact that there will be FOOD available. Consumers will have an opportunity to have a Swedish food experience. A variety of offerings will be available, such as hot and cold IKEA favorites such as meatballs, plant balls, hot dogs, veggie dogs, plant dogs, cinnamon buns, and more. Consumers can either enjoy these fantastic foods in-store or take them home for later. Also, the store will include an “As-Is” division, where gently used products will be available, as well as discontinued items, and even more cheap and affordable furnishings.

What is next?

Consumers in Alabama can expect a really fancy location that will be fully furnished—a 46,000-square-foot environment. There will be thousands of products on display; to be specific, 5,000 products will be on display. However, only 2,000 of these products will be available for immediate collection. Larger items such as sofas and beds can be ordered online, but the entire IKEA range is also available online.

In addition, these online orders come with an option for free in-store collection or home delivery for a fee. Consumers who make use of the online option will also have the option to collect qualifying IKEA-USA.com orders. They can do this by selecting IKEA Huntsville as their chosen collection location at checkout.

According to IKEA United States’ Market Area Manager, John Achillea, there is excitement about the new location for the retailer. He said that they cannot wait to bring the retailer’s experience, style, function, and affordable home furnishing to Alabama. He stated that the retailer is happy to expand its horizon in the South, where they can meet people just where they are.
