An essential message of store shutdowns has spread, and consumers must take note of this. Several American retailers will be closed on Sunday, 20 April 2025. This highlights Easter Sunday, also known as Resurrection Sunday, and consumers should make alternative arrangements to ensure they have everything they need due to close stores. The doors of stores will be closed for 24 hours and consumers should take note of which stores are on the list for 24-hour store shutdowns.

Retail Store Shutdown: 24-hours

Several retailers decided that they would close their doors, but not permanently. Many other retailers have been struggling to make ends meet and had to close their doors permanently after the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, several stores will be closed for 24 hours on Sunday, 20 April 2025. Many people may be wondering why stores will be shut down and the reason for this is because it is Easter Sunday.

In addition, Easter Sunday, which is also known as Easter Day is the celebration in which the resurrection of Jesus Christ is celebrated. According to Christianity this day is considered one of the most important dates of the Church. The date varies every year, but it marks the end of Holy Week and the passage from crucifixion to resurrection. Also, on Easter Sunday, the tradition is that on this day the decorated eggs are hidden for children.

Easter Sunday: Workday off

Many companies selected this day to be a day spent with family and friend and loved ones. Stores will be closed so that employees will also get an opportunity to rest and get a day off. For example, Costco and many other grocery stores, including several retail stores in the United States have decided to give their employees a day off. This is so that employees can enjoy Easter Day, which is celebrated next Sunday, April 20.

Additionally, Easter Day, is a date on which many American businesses decided that they will close their doors. The main reason for this was so that their employees can spend the entire day with their loved ones. Of course, it is no exception for retail store chains which will be closed next Sunday, 20 April 2025.

Stores that will shutdown

There are several stores that will be close next week Sunday. It is essential that consumers take note of these stores that will be closed for 24 hours. Who knows, it might just be your favourite store to shop at. Some of the stores on this list includes several of America’s top retailers like Costco and Target. Consumers have a little over a week to buy everything they need prior to this shutdown of stores. Or they can just remain with something for 24 hours and buy it once the stores will be open again, the next day. Below is a list of some of the stores that will be closed:

  • Best Buy
  • Burlington
  • Costco
  • JCPenney
  • HomeGoods
  • Kohl’s
  • Lowe’s
  • Michaels
  • Target
  • T.J. Maxx

This is not just good for those who are part of the Christian religion, but it also shows that companies value their employees. The fact that companies stated that they want to provide their employees with an opportunity to spend time with the loved ones is really special. It is not just valuable for employees, but it also shows value towards consumers. This is a way business can connect to their consumers and employees, by valuing similar aspects that are close to the hearts of employees and consumers.
