Over the past few weeks, a significant number of recalls occurred amongst some of America’s biggest retailers. This should be a major concern for retailers like Costco and Walmart, but also other affected stores. It especially impacts the safety and health of the consumers, because with all these recalls they do not know what to purchase anymore, because that product might be the next one that is contaminated or poses safe risks. Currently, Costco and Walmart are doing a massive recall on one of the retailers’ popular products.

A massive recall at Walmart and Costco

This recall definitely does not look good for the top retailers of America Walmart and Costco – especially because these retailers are so widespread and operating in various states. Both retailers are known for selling quality products at an affordable price to ensure all consumers can manage to buy their required necessities from the retailers. However, the major fire risk has been linked to one of the items sold at these stores.

In addition, the popular underwater scooter is set out to be an item that is not safe enough for consumers to purchase. There is a possible fire risk that comes with this scooter and this is most likely because of the batteries. It is for this reason that the retailers encourage consumers to return the underwater scooters if they already purchased one. This is to ensure the safety of all consumers and to prevent any accidents that might occur. Consumers are encouraged to NOT use the underwater scooter because their safety might be out in jeopardy.

Affected underwater scooters

Although it is said that the underwater scooters might serve as a threat to the safety on users, it is also essential to highlight which specific items pose this fire risk. It has been stated that the Sublue Mix – underwater scooter batteries that were made between 2018 to 2024 are the ones that are impacted by this fire risk. Therefore, users will have to confirm whether the scooter they have in their possession – if the battery were made between 2018 and 2024.

In addition, these underwater scooters may be used by several individuals who enjoy having fun in the water. According to a Florida-based small business Divers Direct, the underwater scooters ensures that scuba divers, snorkelers, and free divers are moving through the water by using less energy exertion and less oxygen usage. As stated by a recall notice from Sublue, it was stated that they have recently discovered that there is a safety issue with the Sublue Mix underwater scooter.

It is specifically for the batteries that was produced between June 2028 and March 2024 – it involves a battery pack overheating and igniting. According to a California-based company, the affected device models are:

  • MIXAW01,
  • MIXAB01 and
  • MIXSB01

Additionally, if consumers what to see whether the model of underwater scooter they bought is affected, they are more than welcome to visit www.SUBLUE.com/recalls. They can order a free replacement on that website for recalls. Also, the consumers who already recalled their items were encouraged to stop using them immediately, and that they have to submit a recall application and to return old batteries in Sublue-provided recycling packaging.

What is next?

As stated by Sublue Mix, due to a lot of caution, they have proactively launched a recall program to upgrade all affected users to a new generation of safer batteries. The notice where the company communicated this safety hazard included them stated that this will be a completely free of charge opportunity for the affected users.

The company also made the following statement “We understand that product reliability is essential to earning your trust,” Sublue said in a statement. “We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to protect your underwater adventures with the latest technological innovations.”
