Over the past months, several recalls of specific products have occurred. These recalls affect both the retailers and consumers, but it is something that needs to take place. The reason for this is to prevent any health and safety incidents from taking place, but to ensure that no one is negatively influenced by unsafe products. Recently, an urgent recall has been issued for one of Aldi’s popular kitchen Appliances. Consumers are encouraged to be vigilant and careful when they use the pressure cookers sold by the retailer.

Details behind the recall

It has been found that more than 45,000 Aldi Pressure Cookers have been recalled nationwide. The reason for the recall is due to a serious burn hazard. The Lid of the pressure cooker can fail, which could cause the hot contents inside the item, to shoot out and inflicting severe burns. Consumers who bought these items are encouraged to check if their item is affected and to take the necessary steps.

There is an urgent recall on about 46,660 pressure cookers which are for sale at Aldi locations nationwide. This information has been confirmed by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The reason for this urgent issue is because the items have a severe burn hazard after multiple injury reports. Also, at the current point in time there have been 10+ burn injuries reported.

Information about the recalled product

The pressure cookers sold at Aldi which are affected, are the 6-quart and 8-quart Ambiano Electric Pressure Cookers. The model of these items has a model number of KY-318B / 93550, KY-318A / 96775 or 6L-PC / 98527 on the rating label. It is important to note that these items were sold from January 2016 through to December 2019. The price at which the products were available for, is about $40 exclusively at Aldi stores across the United States.

In addition, these pressure cooker lids can be opened before the steam pressure is released. Therefore, it can cause hot contents to shoot out and pose burn injury risk to those using it. Because of these types of incidents, the company has received 11 reports of this malfunction of the items. Also, it includes eight reports which are connected to severe burn injuries.

Therefore, consumers should be careful when they have these recalled items in their possession. They should check the model number on the rating label of the item to make sure if their product is affected. It might seem safe in the beginning, but the more it may be used the more dangerous it will get. Thus, consumers should take the necessary actions.

What to do next?

There are certain aspects that consumers need to follow in order to remain safe and prevent such injuries from occurring. Consumers are encouraged to check their pressure cooker. Also, if consumers may have the recalled product on hand, they are high encouraged to stop using the appliance immediately. Another option is that they can return the items to their local Aldi store in order to receive a full refund.

However, if consumers are not near any Aldi store to return the product, they are more than welcome to also submit a photo of the recalled pressure cooker. The photo should portray the unplugged power cord cut and a photo showing the model number and date code to the firm. This photo containing this information, should then be emailed to Tempo, at [email protected] for a refund.

If there are any consumer who may need additional information, they are welcome to reach out. If there are any need for answers to certain questions about this recall, consumers can contact Aldi toll-free at 800-325-7894. The time of which they can make contact is from Monday through to Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.
