One of America’s retailers, Trader Joe’s, is affected by an urgent recall. Over the past few weeks, America’s top retailers were forced to issue recalls because of unsafe products. Now, this retailer has been affected by a recall alert concerning one of the products the retailer sells. The product that is posting a concern to consumers is the frozen pizza, and consumers are urged to check their freezers and not consume this product.

Background on this urgent recall

Over the past few weeks, several food products have been recalled by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Currently, an extremely popular item has been recalled that is for sale at one of America’s grocery store chains, Trader Joe’s.

In addition, there is an urgent public health alert on a popular Trader Joe’s find. According to the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), this whole situation is because of a lack of proper inspection. It is always important that imported items go through a thorough inspection before entering the country.

This is not for any other reason, other than the safety of consumers. Contaminated products can cause several health concerns if it is eaten by consumers. In order for this to be prevented this from occurring, these product needs to go through a proper inspection process.

Details about the recalled product

Trader Joe’s Uncured Pepperoni Pizza faces an urgent FSIS alert for a lack of proper import reinspection. The affected pizzas have best-by dates in August 2026 and an establishment number of “IT 1558 L UE.” Also, consumers are urged to check their freezers for these pizzas sold in California and return or discard them.

In addition, the grocery chain’s17.63-ounce packages of the Uncured Pepperoni Pizza, that are affected were imported from Italy. It did not receive any import reinspection and as a result it caused this alert. These products contain a lot code of “06/16/25” and it also has best-by date “08/16/26” or a lot code of “06/21/25” with best-by date “08/21/26.”

When it comes to the cardboard packaging, it also bears an establishment number of “IT 1558 L UE” which is printed on the inside of the Italian mark of inspection. Consumers are encouraged to check for the details of the products that have been recalled. These recalled generally occur if a product is contaminated and one would never know if a product were contaminated if it was not properly inspected. In this case, to rather remain safe, the product has been recalled because it lacked a thorough inspection process when the frozen pizzas were imported.

Locations that are affected

These frozen pizzas that has been recalled, were sold at Trader Joe’s locations in California. It is important to note that the product is not labelled as a recalled product. This is because it is no longer available for purchase, since the recalled was issued.

Furthermore, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), has issued an urgent alert of recall on these frozen pizzas and consumers are encouraged to check their freezers. Also, consumers who have this product in their possession are encouraged to dispose it immediately or return the impacted frozen pizza. If there are any questions or additional concerns, consumers are encouraged to make contact with the retailer.

Consumers are also encouraged to make immediate contact with a healthcare provider if they are experiencing any signs of illness after consuming the Trader Joe’s pizza.
