America’s top retailer, Walmart, is making its “Store of the Future” concept public across the United States. The retailer implemented multimillion-dollar renovations that consumers will admire. It has been stated that these renovations are a game-changer. It is also important to note that not all stores will receive these changes all at once. Hence, the San Antonia renovation is scheduled to be the recent one that is set to be worth $1.3 Million.
Details about the San Antonia location
Another San Antonio Walmart is expected to receive a massive makeover in 2026. Lucky residents who are based in the city’s Northwest side are the next group of people to benefit from the company’s “Store of the Future” market model. This is a concept that will allow the company to remain relevant and possibly attract more consumers. Also, it highlights the company’s flexibility and adaptability strategy.
In addition, this change comes after a series of Texas markets, seven of which were in the Alamo City, received million-dollar renovations. The aim of these renovations is to ease the shopping experience for locals and to create more modern store interiors. The grocery giant has not released the full list of buildings that will be receiving a glow-up next year, but a few public record filings are spilling the beans.
The plan for the revamp is also coming to 9006 Guilbeau Rd, San Antonio, TX 78250. The plans at this location were revealed in a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) report that was filed on Thursday, September 25, 2025. The listing indicates that the scope of work is limited to an existing 7,546 square feet of space. This space may include the restrooms, pharmacy, grocery, and customer service departments.

As stated by the project’s TDLR filing, the investors are pouring $1.3 million into the remodel. Now, the question is what is making it cost such a pretty penny? The answer is, these renovations are part of the Walmart’s larger growth strategy, “Store of the Future.” According to the company’s spokesperson, these markets feature larger grocery pickup and delivery sections, updated pharmacies, new grab & go sections, trendier apparel options, as well as community-focused food and merchandise offerings.
The Walmart stores also include new signage, paint, and more shopping carts, a news release states. The retail giant’s first-ever ground-up version of the store was launched in Cypress earlier this year. It marked the beginning of Walmart’s powerful plan to convert about 150 stores similar to that.
