T-Mobile, which is known as one of the American wireless network providers, made an announcement of a new billing rule that the company will implement. This decision that the company made is leaving customers unhappy and frustrated because of the change that has been implemented. In addition, there is a possibility that customers will lose the $5 Autopay Discount if they pay with a card before the bill date. Therefore, customers must familiarise themselves with what to do in this situation.

Details about the network provider’s change

The wireless network provider, T-Mobile, made a change to restrict a beloved discount, which led to customers being angry about this. T-Mobile put an end to the well-used discount loophole that customers have been using and loving

It has been found that the T-Mobile customers have been hit with a plethora of changes over the past few months. These changes include aspects such as price hikes and shift in policy which had a severe impact on customers. However, it has been reported that this is note the end of district changes, but that customers should embrace themselves to experience more changes.

In addition, the reason for these new changes that is on the way for the company, is the fact that the company will soon reside under new leadership. In September 2025, T-Mobile made an announcement that Mike Sievert will step down as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective November 1, 2025. It has been confirmed that Srini Gopalan, who is currently the company’s chief operating officer (COO), will be Sievert’s successor.

In addition, this change from T-Mobile also comes after it revealed in its third-quarter earnings report for 2025 that it earned $21.9 billion in total revenue during the quarter. This indicated that the company made almost 9% more than what it generated during the same quarter in 2024.

The new billing rule of T-Mobile

The company removed a so-called sneaky discount loophole that customers took advantage of. This is another change the customers can now add to the list of changes. T-Mobile made the decision to close a massive loophole that generally allowed credit card customers to receive the company’s $5 autopay discount.

In 2023, the network provider removed the autopay discount for customers who only pay their monthly bills with credit cards. However, some of the customers found a sneaky way to get past this specific new rule. What they would do is to update the payment method which is attached to their T-Mobile account with another account that is eligible for the autopay discount. Instead, they would pay their monthly bill early by making use of a credit card.

The network provider finally had enough of the games that some customers are playing and has officially closed this specific loophole. This is a change that already took effect on October 24, 2025. It is important to note that customers who are making any early payments with a credit card, will stand the risk of losing their discount for that billing cycle.

The responses of the customers

Many of the T-Mobile customers are unhappy about this change. As a result of this, many of them shared their unhappiness on the social media platform Reddit, where they express their frustration with losing the loophole. One of the customers wrote, “Well there goes the free phone insurance that comes with my Amex platinum, which will now cost me $35/month. This carrier has become exhausting.”

Other customers wrote, “So my bill is going up $40 dollars a month? For…. The privilege of paying them? Lmao, what a bad joke. Might be time to close the 15-line account and just go deal with visible or something.” To highlight their frustration, another customer shared that it, “Looks like I’ll be canceling two lines on my account to make up the 40$ autopay difference.”
