America’s retail powerhouses continue their rivalry as Walmart is unleashing one of its latest weapons against Amazon. Over the past few months, the retail giant has been busy implementing various changes and new options for consumers. Since convenience for its consumers is high on the company’s priority list, the retailer is always ready to bring out something that will benefit its consumers. Now, the newest weapon is a delivery option for the retailer’s consumers.

The details behind the retailer’s newest weapon

This may come as a surprise to many, but Walmart quietly introduced a new delivery option for the company’s consumers. At this point, nothing should be a surprise when it comes to the retail giant. The retailer is always ready to show up and to show off, especially against its retail rivals such as Amazon.

Walmart is continuing to bet big on delivery to be more appealing and to attract more consumers. Known as the largest retail chain in the United States, the company has rapidly been busy to expand its delivery services. Over the past few years, the aim has always been to attract consumers, since this is what its top rival Amazon has been doing

For example, in June, the retail giant expanded its drone delivery service to five cities across the country. This service in vowed to deliver orders to consumers faster in these five countries which include:

  • Atlanta,
  • Houston,
  • Charlotte,
  • Tampa, and
  • Orlando.

Later that month, the ecommerce giant, Amazon, made an announcement to have a competitive edge against its rival. This announcement revealed the ecommerce giant’s plans to expand the same-day and next-day delivery. The plan is that this expansion will cover over 4,000 smaller cities, towns, and rural communities nationwide by the end of this year.

Walmart’s latest delivery addition

To uphold the competitive advantage, Walmart has quietly added a new delivery option. This option is available for the retailer’s consumers on its website, and it started going live on October 5, 2025. In addition, online shoppers now have to option to find a “Get It Now” button alongside their “Add to Cart” options. As stated by a recent report from Cord Cutter News, this is for eligible products which will be available at any nearby Walmart store.

This “Get It Now” feature will allow Walmart+ consumers to select speedy delivery options. These options would include delivery within 46 minutes for merely a $10 fee or free same-day delivery. However, it is important to note that this will only be applicable for orders that meet the minimum threshold. The estimated arrival times of orders will be based on the current store staffing levels and certain traffic conditions.

The impact of this delivery weapon

Walmart’s increased investment in delivery comes during a critical time as many consumers choose to take the more convenient option. Delivery in this case, would be that convenient option. Since, this retail giant is focused on increasing its levels of convenience, consumers will not be afraid to spend their money whether it is online or in store. This was confirmed by a recent report obtained from the data analytics company GlobalData.

A retail analyst at GlobalData, Emily Scott, made a statement to TheStreet. She alluded to the fact that, “As consumer expectations of convenience rise and digital disruptions reshape shopping behavior, retailers must innovate or risk losing out.” Therefore, Walmart’s expanded delivery options can especially assist to reverse a concerning consumer trend which has been impacting sales.

According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Walmart, Doug McMillon, consumers have been adjusting their spending behaviour due to economic uncertainty. Also, some of the main pressures placed on many consumers are the continuously increasing tariff rates and inflation.
